Sir Lauchlan -Mackinnon has retired from tho general managership of the <l Argus." Mr A. Holtz succeeds him. [Tho "Australasian Journalist," of December 15th, says:—Sir Lauchlan Mackinnon -will retire from /the general management of the Melbourne "Argus" and the "Australasian" at tho end of ttjo year. With Lady Mackinnon and tho Misses Mackinnon, he will leave Melbourne in tho middle of January for an extended visit to Great E«*sain. Sir Lauchlan has been actively identified with the "Argus" and the "Australasian" for tho last fifty years, while ho has been general manager for about forty years. Ho has always been held in the highest cs--teem by tho members of the staffs of these newspapers. Throughout hfs long career as tho general manager ho has been nrvred for his courtesy and fairness to the employees at all times. Regret is general over tho severance of relations which hare pleasantly existed for so long a period."]
