His Ixxly was fonnd on tho side of a level road, with tho skull fractured, marks on t'ho mad indicating that the cycle h:ul skidded. In one of the pockets of <he man's coat was a certificate of registration of .1 bievclo bearing tho name 6. Gills, issued in "Wanganui. li-ater. It has been ascertained tliat tho victim was Norman Gillies, son of Mr Hugh Giiiies, a prominent Manawatu pastoralif-t. Tho deceased recently returned from the war. The father is absent judging nt the Xuhaka Show. PALM FT'STON N., January 1. ~\t tho inquest on Amy ICliza Harriman, witnesses testified that tho dereasod took poison and then tried to drown herrelf in a tank. Tho deceased's Fon rescued his mother and held her up till neighbours arrived. A verdict of suiriclo.'~due to mental depression, was returned.
