SECOND IMPERIAL GATHERING. (By Cabla.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Heuter'a Telegrama.) (Received Febraary 18th, 8 p.m.) LONDON, February 16. The precise date of tho second Imperial Press Conference, to be held in Canada in 1920, has not yet been fixed, but invitations will be sent in due course to the Press of tho Dominions. WORLD'S PRESS CONGRESS. DATE DECIDED UPON. Tho Press Congress of the World will be opened in Sydney on November lltli next, tiie first anniversary of tho signing of the armistico (says a New York paper of January 4th). Tho. date was decided on by Dean WalterV Williams, of the School of Journalism'' of the University of Missouri, presi-j dent of the Congress, who is arily iij Tolcio, Japan, on a Government mission, after lie had received the following cablegram from Mr W. A. Holman, Premier of New South Wales: "The victorious end of tho war brings the Sydney session of the Press Congress of the World within easy, view and reminds-me of the great services the Press has rendered in pro-e----moting and fostering that splendid ioJ| ternational harmony of peoples anew principles that alone, under Diving? guidance, made victory possible. $ "I look to an early 'meeting of thjw Congress as the occasion for completion ing this great work by promoting betaßl tea* -understanding throughout thejfl world and strengthening for all time | the friendship of those people who I have fought side by side in the com- I mon cause. In such manner we may | ho assured for all time of conditions 1 of democracy and right." I Dean Williams replied to Mr Hoi-1 man's cablegram as follows: il "I rejoice with you in the victorious and righteous ending of tho war.; May the Press Congress serve humanity by cementing international brotherhood unto world betterment. I approve your suggestion to convene the Cbngress November 11th, the first anniversary of the signing of tho ar~. mistice which brought the cessation of hostilities and turned the world's, thought to problems of peace." An early announcement will bo made of tho programme and plans for, the sessions of the Congress and for ocean transportation.
