INFLUENZA.
POSITION IN SYDNEY

Owing to tho Government's stringent precautions tho epidemic is making litthc headway in New South Wales. Only four suspects were notified yesterday, whereas 148 new cases wore reported in \ ietoria. whore the total has reached 912. There wero three deaths j'esterday.
EPIDEMIC IN MELBOURNE. r MELBOURNE, February 1. Two hundred and sixty-soven now cases of influenza have been reported. WEST AUSTRALIA NERVOUS. PERTH, February 1. ' West Australia has closed the border, and will quarantine all passengers from Soutlz Australia. NATURE OF DISEASE. ADELAIDE, February 1. The Health authorities refuse to declare that the cases discovered are pneumonic influenza.
