It is announced that Dempsey will fight Willard for the championship of the world. TO TBI XDITOR or "THE niESS." Sir, —As one who has taken a keen interest in tho sport of boxing for many jcars, 3 wish to draw attention to an unfair position in which a local Boxing Association is placed in regard to where the New Zealand Boxing Council has its headquarters. It is well known to all who have had anything to do with "the game' 5 in this Dominion that there are only a limited number who have tho required knowledge and will give their spare time for committee meetings. In this re-1 spect, Christchurch is too better off than other centres, but it lias to find separate persons for the local committee and for the New Zealand Boxing Council. Naturally, one of these bodies suffers, perhaps both. One can only judge by results. ' Is. the Christchurch. Sports Club a successful boxing association? One can only judge by results. Have its tournaments in the past been attractive? What is its financial posiThe publio will in both instances answer unfavourably.
