EAST CAPE RACE,

Tho Canterbury Pigeon Flying Club flew off a ra-ce from East Cape. Twenty-one birda were cent, divided amongst seven owners competing. The birds were liberated at C.15 n..ivi. on the 18th January, fifteen miles out ut e-ea, by the chief officer of the Arahura, in fino weather. Owing to tlw adverse conditions which the birds, had to contend with during tho journey only 0110 bird timed in beforo closo of race. Tho race was open, for three days. The winnors of first and special prizte turned out to ba Baiter Bros." CavMier, which flow tho distance of 523 milea 8 yards in 37hrs ißmin 28soc, with a velocity of 411yda per minute.
