« LAST NIGHT'S MEETING. A meeting of the Canterbury School Committees' Association . -was held last night, Mr W. Jones presiding. The* chairman welcomed as a now , delegate Mt D. Good, representing j Marshland. j in reporting on proceedings 'when a j doputation from the Association waited upon the Education Board, with reference; to their endeavour to get single i adjustable desks installed in the schools,the chairman said he thought that the Board was in full sympathy with tlie Association, and would try to carry out. the reform as soon as practicable. A letter from the secretary of the Board stated that the Board had referred the question of the installation if single adjustable desks to its Buildings Committee for consideration and report. It was further stated that tho Board was in communication with tho Department in connexion with the matter o? floor space per child, and that tho Dei partment had been asked to submit to Board before deciding .upon any special pattern of desk, its proposals, j The report" and the Board s letter were received, Several applications for affiliation woro granted. Remits from the Southland School Committees' Association ' for the £k>- I i minion Conference of School Commit- I tees' Associations were received and re-! ! ferred to the executive. I j A pamphlet written by Mr J. C. i Prudhoe, chairman of the Cashmero! School Committee, was received for con- j sidoration, and Mr Prudhoa made some . i explanatory remarks in connexion therewith.
