MAGISTERIAL. (Before Mr S. E. McCarthy, 5..M.) DRUNKENNESS. George Malouk appeared on rcmancl charg'ed with drunkenness, helpk-es drunkenness, and breaking l his prohibition order. Ho was fined £1, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, | on the first charge, ordered to pay tho cost iof medical treatment (17s Gd), in defav.it , seven days' imprisonment, in respect of the I second, and fined £5, in default ono month's imprisonment, on the third, the sentences to b© cumulative. James Brown was remanded for a week on a charge of helpless drunkenness. THE CHATTELS ACT. Edward Kennedy uppeared on a charge of breaking the provisions at tho Ciiaftp's Transfer Act at Waimat© on December Oth, 1917, in respect of the sale of horses. He was remanded for a week, bail being allowed, self in £50, and two sureties' of jt'2s. SOUTHBRIDGE. (Before Messrs R. B. B. WiUis> and J. Storry, J.P.'s.) For allowing stock to bo at large on the public roads, Michael Curran, A. H. Weavers, Edward Kilbride, and R. Mori arty were each fined 6s and costs. John F. Free waa fined 5s and costs on each of two charges, and Frances Alice Hampton and George Hannaford were convicted and ordered to pay costs. Thomas "Wallis claimed £1 from Hector Wilcox. Plaintiff stated that he had ' lent the money on tho understanding that it was to be returned on a certain date. Defendant, denied having received any money from Wallis. Judgment was given for plaintiff with costs. Judgment was given for plaintiff with costs in D. Gilmour and Co. v. Hector Wilcox, claim £1 10s. —
