SWIMMING.
CANTERBURY CENTRE. A meitinjr of the: Canterbury Centre of tte Now Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held' on Saturday evening, Mr "WV Johnson presiding. Tlio reports of the various ' aub-committccß set up in connexion with the Dominion Schools and Intermediate Championships, to be held'ift Christchurdi in March,, were adopted, and the programme drawn up for the meeting waa approved >. The chairman reported that, owing to the date on which the various schools were re-, assombling, it had been decided by the executive to change the date of the Yaldhurst Shield Competition from February 13th. to February 20th. The local Schools Championships had been arranged for the following dates: —Boys: February Bth, 10th, 12th, and 14th; girls: February 21st, 24th, 26th, and 28th. The dates were approved. The delegates of the new Walt ham Ladies' Club were welcomed by the chairman, who' briefly referred to the bright future that appeared to be in store for swimming. Leave was given to the Christchurch Ladies' Club to hold a carnival on Easter Monday. •; Mr Atkinson was instructed to move tit the next meeting of the Council, thai no centre's delegates be allowed to sit on the Council unless that centre has held ita annual meeting. It was decided to ask the Council to mle on the position of its secretary, Mr B. O'Noil an a member of the Council,' as he, while a councillor, bad convened and atonded a meeting of delegates to the Canterbury Centre, at which centre businea was transected, it being pointed out that no person could ait oh the Council and a centro at the same time.
