THE HARVEST.
NORTH CANTERBURY. A run through the district from Rangiora, via Oust, Oxford, and Loburn, shows that there are many excellent crops of wheat, oats, and' linseed. The area, in the latter is probably the largest ever sowni in the disand most of the crops appear to be excellent. The wheat crops are remarkably even, light ones forming only a small percentage. In the Lobum district some of the wheat is now in stook. Except near the hills, where the crops are late and light, lr.ost of the oats are either cut or are ready for the binder. At Loburn, a chaff cutter was at work on new oats. Grass is abundant, especially along the foot of tho hills, but the visit emphasised tho fact that there will be a great scarcity of rape and turnips this year, only im odd paddoolc in theso sbiiplo fodder crops being seen.
