S'ho. executive of t,he Friendly, Societies'- v Council- met on Thursday evening at .ihe t ■Board room of the U.A.U. Druids.. Present: :s ±Jrotoeia "A. D'. Hassall (presiding), J.. A. j Clarke, M. Grimes, J. it. Jonea, H. Ale- + Cann, and J. W.' if. Francis.' ? Correspondence was received from ' the } ilmisicr of Defence regarding the provision maue by. the Department for medical attend- t ance'ori- returned soldier "members."' The .meeting'-expressed; -its satisfaction withrthe ;.(] arrangements-made. 'J The- Hegistrar of Friendly Societies advised i. that the_ executive would bo supplied with • current literature on the movement. ' A motion was unanimously- passed ill ■ favour of an amalgamation of societies in "erect- F ir.g a suitable lusting memorial to the - i memory of soldier members had fallen J in tho war, the matter to" be further' dis- 0 cussed at the annual meeting' in February. It was' resolved that the Council be recommended to niSliate with the Workers' £ educational Association. In reply to a • communication . from . the Repatriation Board, it was decided to "send H on tho names of Brothers M. Grimes, J. A: and J. W. H.'Francis, from whom a selection of one would be made for member- _ ship on the Board. • . . •The question of representation' on the Hos- " pital Board ' was remitted to the' annual 01 meeting.
