OBITUARY.
Advice has been received that Corporal William Holland, died on the 17th ■inst. afc tlio Military Hospital, Cannock Chase, England, from appendicitis. Corporal Holland volunteered for service, and was attached to the 20tli Reinforcements. He was discharged from camp on account of rheumatics, but eventually sailed . with the 42nd Reinforcements. Before leaving for the front he was employed at Mr W. B. Scott's garage, Gloucester street. '

[ England, of Dr. William George Kemp who for many years was one of the l Jc .ding medical practitioners in Wel--1 _ The late Dr. Kemp was bom at Alnwick, Northumberland, seventy- ■ ™vo years ago, and was a son of Major , Kemp, who left his regiment for a time to become Master of the Horse for the i Duke of Northumberland. Dr Kemp studied medicine at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, and passed his examinations brilliantly, qualifying when lie was old enough to do so. He arrived in New Zealand about half a century ago, and during his residence in JNeSlson was married fo Miss Charlotte Greenwood, daughter of Dr. Greenwood, of Motueka, and sister of Mrs Leonard Stowo and Miss Greenwood, of Wellington. After his mar"a^rl}?- 10011 over Dr - Poor's practice in Wellington, and remained in "Wellington until January, 1892, when ho returned to the Old Country. He hate left a widow (residont at Hastings, England) and fouj s<jns and three daughters. Ih o four sons are Mr Geoffrey Kemp, district manager for the A.M.I\ Society at Invercargill; Dr John Harold Kemp, of -Wellington "xt l, ' or William Kemp, M.C., New Zealand Medical Corps (now in France); and Captain Charles Gordon Kemp, M.D., M.C., Royal Armv Medical Corps, who is also on active service in France. The daughters are Mrs Macpherson (London) and Miss Kemp and Miss Violet Kemp, who arc living with their mjotiiej* One of the daughters (Sister Elsie Kemp) was killed while on active service on the Western front, and another Kathleen Kemp) died at Homo about nine vears ago.
