Tho Geneva correspondent of the "Daily Chronicle" states that Processor Phillippe Jeannere, of Switzerland, has arrived fwom Russia. He was a traveller from Kasan to Moscow with Bolshevist staff officers, who were mainly Letts. He expressed surprise at seeing trains full of soldiers, g l aeroplanes, and ammunition, llie othcers replied that tho Bolshevist Government had great plans lor revolutionary conquest, and was raising an immense army to carry them out. The officers added: —o have a million men to-day, and will double our strength in six months' time. Tll ° Hungarians will soon join us, for HungarVis ripo for a proletariat revolution. j ;:Jn the lted Flag will be carried to Austria. As soon as wo cross tho German frontier tho greater part of Germany, and certainly Prussia, will rally to the Bolshevists, in order to escape the crushing peace terms. Wo shall then have millions of trained German soldiers at our disposal. There will bo no difficulty in organising an arinv of five millions with which to overwhelm Western Europe. Wo have plenty of money, and are confident that wo can realise our aims, owing to the disorganisation and confusion prevailing m Europe." Professor Jeannere admits that the officers were boasting, and intended to impress him, but tho military preparations he witnessed bore out many of their statements. Ho expresses the opinion that tho _ Allies should occnpy Livonia if they wish to strike a mortal blow at Bolshevism, for most of its strength is drawn from there. _ Tho Letts practised horrible cruelties at Kasan, including the imprisonment of 250 man, women, and children in a cellar, where they were left to starve.

ESTHONIANS TAKE NARVA. (Renter's Telegrams.) LONDON, January 21. The Esthonians claim the capture of Narva with immense Bolshevist booty. NEW YORK, January 20. Dispatches from Archangel state that the Siberian Army has captured Lapin g, and are nearing a junction with tho Archangel Government troops. WHOLE ARMY DESERTS. The "Morning Post's" Stockholm correspondent states that Trotsky ordered the evacuation of Petrograd without resistance, owing to the Bolshevist defeat, after which the whole army deserted.
