MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruel tv to Animals was held lust night. The inspector's report dealt with the inadequate water supply for stock at Addington saleyards, and the want of calving pens to cope with urgent cases. It was decided to communicate with tho directors of tho company. A letter was received criticising the method cf slaughter at £akariki Freezing Works, near Feilding. It- was decided to forward tho letter to the Wellington S.P.C.A. to be further dealt with. It was agreed to write to the Wellington Society asking it to call a conference of New Zealand societies for May Sth. The inspector was instructed to fake legal proceedings against persons using tight overhead check reins on their horses. A special vote of thanks to Mr W. J. Hunter, who acted as honorary solicitor in the rcccnt cases, was passed uuanimouely.
