! INQUEST. ' Before Mr S. E. McCarthy, Coroner, at New Brighton, yesterday morning, an enquiry was held into the death of Andrew Henderson, whose body was found in the river Avon, near Herring • Bay on the previous day. i William Watson,Henderson, the dei ceased's brother, said that the deceased had been engaged in farming at Belmont, Methven. He had suffered from influenzaj and later contracted double pneumonia, from which he emerged [ weak and depressed. He came to New ! Brighton to recuperate. On Saturday | witness found the deceased's coat and j boots in the dining-room of the house | where he was staying, also > a note, ' stating that owing to the death from influenza of a brother to whom he was much attached, and to his ill-health, he must end his life. After hearing further evidence, the Coroner returned a verdict that deceas- 1 ed drowned himself while temporarily 1 insane. , (rRESS association telegram.) AUCKLAND, Januarv 21. ( Alfred Stephen Amy, aged 37 years, l died in the hospital to-day.
