DRURY LANE THEATRE.
RIVALRY FOR POSSESSION.
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, January 17. At a stormy meeting of Drury Lane shareholders, the directors proposed a resolution accepting Mr Alfred Butts's offer.
Mr Charles Gulliver addressed the meeting, and offered £155,000. Another manager telegraphed an offer of £160,000.
Tho meeting finally adjourned for a week.
Many shareholders hooted the directors as they walked out.
A recent cable message stated: There is an interesting theatrical fight for the possession of Drury Lane Theatre. The directors accepted an offer of £109 600 from Mr A] , fred Butts, subject to the shareholders' consent. When the offer was made public Mr Charles Gulliver, director of the Paladium, immediately offered £125,250, and Mr Oswald Stoll also made tho shareholders an almost identical offer on behalf of the Alhambra Theatre Company. Finally Mr C. B. Cochrane is attempting to secure control of London's premier theatre.
