CAPTAIN T. E. Y. SEDDON. M.P.

HIS EXPERIENCES IN AMERICA. (press association telegram.) WELLINGTON, January 21. Captain T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P. fbr Westland, returned by the Ruahine yesterday. Interviewed regarding his visit to America, Captain Seddon said: — "After speaking in New Jersey State in the war savings campaign, I was jiut on to work with the United States Shipping Board. I spoke at several big shipping yards, and afterwards spoke at monster meetings of workers, for the Government, in Michigan, Wiseousih, lowa, Indiana, and Nebraska. Most of the meetings were outdoor gatherings, and after singing 'America' the men took the <oath. of loyalty to the President of the United States. It was a very remarkable sight to look at the thousands of upturned faces, and the hands of the men held up as they swore their allegiance. ' After I had finished with the Shipping Board I was with the National Security League, the President being Dr. Preston, of Princetown University. I followed Major Bcith (Ivan Hay), visiting and addressing gatherings "at North Dakota and Minnesota, and from there I went on to the Pacific coast, where I was speaking for the Fourth Liberty Loan. ''In the Middle West and West I found that a very keen desire existed to learn everything possible about the colonies. The people there seem to bo very well disposed towards ns. It would be a matter worthy of consideration of the Government whether trade could not be encouraged there with New Zealand. In the various Chambers of Commerce of the Western States there was an earnest desire manifested to create tho friendliestrelationships with us. It seems to me that now is the time for those interested in trade to open up in the Western States." I
