* NEW CHIEF POSTMASTER AT CHRISTCIII UCH. Mr W. Geo, chicf postmaster at Cliristchurch, has boon transferred to Auckland as chief postmaster there, and will take up his now position iramedintolv. Mr E. Northeroft, .it present chief postmaster. Napier, will take .Mr Goo's position in Cliristchurch, and until his arrival, Mr J. G. llulo will act in the capacity of chief postmaster hero. Air Northeroft was some years ago on the staff of the Cliristchurch Telegraph Department. Later he was transferred to Uloiiheim, whero ho remained for several years, eventually attaining tlio position of cliief postmaster. About soveu years ago ho was transferred to Napier as chief postmaster, and in that position he made a largo number of friends. Incidentally, Mr Northeroft is an enthusiastic and very capable bowler.
