DOCTOR SHOT.
A LONDON TRAGEDY. (By Cable.—Frees Association.— I Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cftbld AtfooUtion.) LONDON, January 14. Major Miles Charles So ton, of the Australian Medical Corps, wjib shot dead at the house of his cousin, Sir Malcolm Seton, Holland Park. Lieutenant-Colonel N. C. Rutherford, of the Territorial Medical Service, has beon arrested. He was charged at ihe "West London Police Court with the murder of Maior Seton, and remanded to January 22nd. It is understood that the acciised had just arrived from the front, and" sought to interview the deceased. The interview terminated with revolver shots after ton minutes. Maior Miles Charles Cariston Seton, C.8./ M.8., G.M.. F.R.C.S., was horn in 1874. and was the eldest son of the late William Carden Seton, of Cariston and Treskerby. He served in South Africa. 1901-2, and was a captain in the Cape Medical Staff Coras. He was hon. anesthetist at -Alfred, Hospital, Melbourne. Lieut.-Colonel Nathaniel John Crawford "Rutherford, D.5.0., M.8., R.A.M.C., D.A.D., Medical Services, was horn on November 6th, 1874. and educated in Dublin. He entered the army in 1899 (captain, 1902; major, 1911). He served in the South African war, 1899-1902 (Queen's Medftl, six elnsps, King's Medal, two clasps). Tn the present war he was mentioned in despatches, and was awarded the D.S.O. (Australian and N.&. C&blo Association.) (Receiver ifinuary 17th, 12.10 a.m.) • LONDON, January 15. Drs. Rutherford and Seton became acquainted on active service. Both, were prominent medical men. Dr. Rutherford is an authority on anatomy, and human embryology. He was lately Assistant-Commissioner of Medical Services.
