Tlie Educational Institute adopted a report 011 the requirements of t school buildings and furniture, demanding an area of five acres for the former, and up to "twenty in the country districts, to provide playgrounds, and" gardens, and also paddocks for children's horses and teachers' cows. Other resolutions were passed asking for an increase in the pensions to teachers' widows, and long leave after twenty years' service, on full or half-pay, and an improvement in teachers' residences. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr C. R. Munro; vice-presi-dents. Ml- A.ffErskiue and Mr W. Phillips; treasurer, Mr J. E. Purchase; non-official members of the executive, Miss Coad (Wellington), and Messrs Newton (Thames), Mcllroy (Taranaki), Webb (Wellington), livans (Christchurch), and Blake (Wellington).
