MEETING OF COMMITTEE

Tiie committee of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children held their meeting in the offico in Chancery lane. Present: Mrs W. AY. Morton (president, in tlx3 chair), and Mesdames Deans, R. E. Alexander, H. R. Smith, A. C. Saiidstor.j H. A. Knight, A. H. Bristed, and Misses M. and R. Tabart. The Hon. G. ~\V. Russell "wrote asking for a photograph, of the Christchurch Karitane Baby Hospital to be reproduced in his forthcoming hook, entitled "Now Zealand To-day." It was decided to get a photograph for the purpose, the photograph to include the now portion of the building, consisting of the nurses' annexe. The president informed the meeting that Matron Smith was now quite well, and had returned to duty at the Baby •Hospital, and with two staff nurses and six probationers, the staff was now normal. The question of providing oxtra accommodation for maids, and further accommodation for probationers, was referred to tlio Building Committee. The secretary reported that Nurse Mackio had resumed her duties as travelling Plunkcfc .Nurse. During her temporary superintendence at the Baby Hospital. Xurso Hansard was singlehanded in the office, and had a busy time. Her report showed' 224 visits to -fne rooms and 33 visits paid to homes. Mrs Deans wrote resigning from the committee, as she would be out of New Zealand for some time. The committee unanimously granted her leave of absence, and asked her to remain a member, which she consented to do. • The present high price of sugar of milk was discussed. It appeared that many parents found it a drawback to tho use of humanised milk. Mrs Morton undertook to write to the C'emtral Council on the subject, to enquire if, now tho war was over, some effort could not be made to obtain it at a reducod prico.
