THE M.C.C. TEAM'S TOUR. PROPOSED INVITATION - TO VISIT NEW ZEALAND. At a. meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council held het evening:, it was decided to recommend to tlu> delegates at the next general meeting of the Council (to be held at the end of this month), that an invitation be sent to the 1 M.C.C. team to extend its forthcoming tour irom Australia to New Zealand. It was owing to Brice's superior handling of'his team that Wellington won the last match. Ho had his team well placed to stop boundary hits, especially lis square deep leg. and third man. Then he changed • his bowling like a veteran captain, which made it difficult for our bats to get . the ball to the boundary. The way the Wellington men met the ball? and the quick return to the wioket wee much better than the field in" of our men, who generally wait till the ball rolk to them before it jb picked up. We do not seem to be able to place our fieldsmen ' like other first-class visiting captains do. All through' theif bowling is generally superior to. ours, and certainly now we have no bowler equal to Callaway «nd Bennett at their best. » / So .every opportunity should* be'given to keep . the runs down by the field being placed better ■ than we generally manage to do. We have not a great choke of good players at present. • but T am sure Bead would have strengthened , the team in batting.
