BUSH FIRES.
(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) SYDNEY, January 15. Extensive bush fires are devastating the Bathnrst and Goulburn districts. SONOMA QUARANTINED. SYDNEY, Januaiy 15. The Sonoma, from San Francisco, was quarantined, owing to a suspicious case of pneumonia. The patient is now convalescent. STRIKERS FINED. PERTH, January 15. Seven mombers of the Tramway Union were fined £5 each for striking, and the Union was fined £25 for having instigated the strike. UNEMPLOYMENT FEARED. PERTH, January 15. Speaking at a Labour deputation to the Premier, Mr McAllum, (secretary of the Labour Federation, urged the Government to prepare a programme of public works, as in the course of a year there would be 20,000 returned soldiers in West Australia, half of whom would be unemployed. Ho did not desire to see here what was happening in Russia, but if bloody revolution were desired, the Labour leaders need only allow tho Government to continue its present inaction.
