FIRE BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The . Christchuroh Fire Board met last night. Present—Messrs H. Holland (chairman), A. Williams, J. Buohan, H. R. Rualib rid go, F. Burgoyne, and H. P. Hopkins. Messrs Dennis Brothers, Ltd., wrote, on November 13th, 1918, that the engine for the motor pump, on order by the Board, was quite finished, and that they were making 1 arrangements for immediate shipment.—Received. The Department of Internal Affairs wrote acknowledging notification of the resignation of Mr 6. J. A. Kerruish as a member of tho Board, and fixing the 18th inst. as the date for the election to fill the vacancy. The superintendent reported that between December 6th, 1918, and the 10th inst. 15 calls were received—s for malicious falso 1 alarms, 3 for false alarms, 3 for hedge fires, and 4 for actual fires. For the pericrj tho I estimated fire loss was £335; insurances on I buildings and contents £GSO, estimated value i of property £1550. From November 7th to December 6th, 1918, the total fire loss was ' £18,572, insurances £159,385, estimated valuo of properties £22,000. The total loss at the fire at the Farmers' Co-operative Association was £15,400. i The superintendent further reported that ' he had conducted a court of enquiry into al- ' leged offences by two firemen, and as tie • charges were admitted the two men had I been dismissed.
