NEW BRIGHTON GALA.
TO BE HELD OX SATURDAY. A meeting of_the General Committee of the New Brighton Gala was held last night, Mr C. 11. AVinny presiding 1 over a good attendance. The chairman 6tated that the Sumner Gala would not, be held on the 18th inst., and it had been' thought that the New Brighton Gala aliould be held on that date. It wno. agreed that the Gala be held on Saturday next. It was decided to ask the Tramway Board, in view of the fact that a very large number of people 'visited the 1 borough on Saturday last aa "Gala" visitors, that the expense of adveriiaing the Gala this week be borne by the Tramway Board, eeeiruj that the committee would receive no percentage of Jast week's traffic' receipts. Tho "Bran Tub" and "Hoop-la" Committee were authorised to spend £5 each on additional supplies. A number of extra events were added to the programme. It was decided to start the Sand Design Competition at 12.30 .p.m., the judging "to take place at 1.30 p.m.
