An expedition will start during the present month to survey and chart a route for the air service to link up Australia with India and Europe. SOCIALIST CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE, January 11. The secretary of the British Labour Party has cabled inviting the Australian Labour Party to appoint two dolegates to the International Conference | which is to be held at Lausanne. RETURNED SOLDIERS' REQUESTBRISBANE, January 11. 1 The Returned Soldiers' League lias written to the Seamen's Union asking tho members not to work the ship that Mr Pearce intends travelling on, as more competent men can be found amongst A.I.F. officers abroad to take charge of the demobilisation of the forces. TRAIN HOLD-UP. SYDNEY, Januarv 11. Larsen, who attempted to hold up the Forbes train between Pentliville and Bathurst on December 22nd, lias been committed for trial. He attributed his escapade to picture show influence. The driver of the train stated that during the struggle the train, which had 300 passengers aboard, attained a dangerous speed. "ONE BIG UNION."
