SETTLEMENT PROBABLE. (Received January 12th, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, January 12. A hitch has occurred m connexion with the shipping settlement. After the secretary of the Seamon's Union had accepted the Union Company's terms on behalf of the men, a meeting of the latter refused to endorse it, and a deadlock ensued. Soo. ing tho feeling of tho men, the Unioa officials decided not to push the matter, and adjourned the meeting till 10 a.m. on Monday, whon it is hoped more reasonable counsels will prevail. One of those present subsequently stated that the meeting did not represent a majority of tho members. If Monday's meeting was a representative one, it was suro to reverse the previous decision.
