Tho Senior Inspect or reported that owing to the examination having been delayed, it would, not be practicable to select the new . pupil-tcachers in time- to admit of their undertaking duty in February. Thia would greatly the schools, tinIces the old pupil-ieacher3 remained on for February, or other nrrun-jamenls were made. It was agreed that, in ail cases .where it was possible to do, so, a temporary teacher should be- put . on in place of two pupilteachors;. also to ask the .Department in other cases to allow the retiring pupil-teach-ers to remain during February where they were willing to do so. In moving the adoption of the report, jut K. 11. Andrews said that the Department's recommendations had not been biought in in time. TII3 pupil teachers' examinations could not take place'until later in the year. He suggested that the Board delegate power to make the appointments to the chairmnn (Mr W. 'Banks), the Senior Inspector (Mr W. Brock), and the chairman .01 the Appointments Committee (Mr AiiJspws). , The -report and motion were adopted. The Finance' Committee reported that.accounts amounting to Us "d hud- been, parsed for payment.
