Tlie long spell of dry weather, augmented by the great heat of the past fortnight, is telling severely on many parts of the Commonwealth, causing anxiety about feed and water, tho scarcity pressing hard oti agriculturists and stock-owners. Some townß are suffering from a water famine. Bush fires are raging, and' rabbits, which have been driven out of the back country, are causing widespread •■y damage. Rain is falling in the southerp districts of Now South "Wales, and extending to the north-eastern districts. Rain is also falling in Victoria and Tasmania, and has improved the outlook for the pastoral and agricultural industries.
