AUCKLAND, January b. In a statement published a few days ago, the Hon. A. M. Myers, Aetincr-Jlinister of Finance, stated mat New Zealand's war expenses to November 30th, 1918, amounted to £5-1,000,000, and war loans to date to £64,000,000, the interest and sinking tund on the latter sum being about £3,500,000. . On being interviewed to-day Mr Myers stated that of the £64,000,000 borrowed £1,110,000 had been raised at 3J per cent, interest, 43 millions at 4 per cent., 38 millions at 4J per cent., and 19i millions at 5 per cent. He addod that 22{ millions had been raised in London, and 41 \ millions in New Zealand. The amount of loans raised in New Zealand for war purposes from Ist, 1918, to 19th ult. was t» little over 14 millions, while for other purposes li millions had been subscribed.
