BRITAIN'S WAR EFFORT.
A TOTAL OF OVER 10,000,000 FIGHTERS. (By Cable.—PreM Association. —Copyright.) (Australian and N./j. Cable Association.) (Received January 3rd, 11.25 p.m.) LONDON, December 31. The Army, the Navy, and the Air Force at the date of the armistice numbered 6,500,000, though Britain's total war effort was over 10,000,000. Thus far 270,000 have been demobilised, 115,000 prisoners have been repatriated, and 390,000 munition workers released. The railway and shipping facilities between France and England have made it impossible to increase the rate of demobilisation. When all the prisoners have been repatriated, the speed of demobilisation will be increased.
