ANNUAL MEETING. NEW BUSINESS A RECORD. (By Telegraph.) WELLINGTON, January 2. Mr F. W. Nicholson, managor of the National Mutual Life Association, has received the following cable message from Melbourne: — The 49th annual meeting of the Association was held on December 31st. The chairman (Mr Andrew Newell) congratulated the members on the continued prosperity of the Association. The new business for the year was nearly £4,500,000 —a record for the Association, being over £1,000,000 more than last year. The total income showed an increase of £175,000 over last year, and now stood at £1,9-2,000. Payments to mombers during the year amounted to £8,7,000, of which war claims amounted to £207.000, but notwithstanding this, the sum of £540,C00 was added to the funds—the largest amount ever added in one year. The total funds of the Association were now close upon £12,000,000, a rocord that members might well be proud of. . The chairman also mentioned that the Association had over £2,000,000 invested in ww bonds. 1
