England's war-time standard shoes j for men are to bo followed soon, it l s announced, by ready-made standard , suits of clothes. These (states a cable from London to an American paper) are to be in serges and tweeds, and will be sold at about the enuivalent of about £4 for the first grade of material and at less than £3 for the second. Serge, both black and blue, will also be available for tho making of suits to measure. No standard tweed sni'.a will be made to measure. Prom 750,000 to 1,000,000 suits aro expected to be on sale during June, July, and An-J gust. Cloths and clothing, apart from j tlw standardised materials, will cou-
tinuo to be available at the regular prices, just as other shoes, besides the war-time shoes, aro to be had. The j plan of supplying clothing to civili ins, at moderate prices has beeu worked out : by a department of tho War Office. 1 known as the Board of Control of Wool Textile Production. Provision is also made for the clothing of millions of men, now in their counti-v's service, who will return to civil life at the end of the war. What is called "doubtful purpose'" cloth is being produced in an undyed state. It will he dyed khaki for military uniforms, or in colours suitahle for civilian wear, according to requirements.
