I The Kaiapoi Borough Council met last night. Present—The Mayor (Mr J. H. Blackwell), Councillors W. Doubleday, H. Mcintosh, J. Bryden. J. Barnard, A. Bhkeley, B. Dunn, L. B. Evaw, and L. C. B. Fuld- • J. H. Crawshaw, who is on military duty'at Featherston Camp, was granted leave of absence of four months. The Railway Department wrote stating that the automatic bell* at the High etreet crossing were considered to be sufiicieiit warning, also that it was the intention of the Department to install the same means of alarm «t the Pcraki street croesmg. At the request oi the Canterbury Progress League, a grant of £4 10s wsb made towards tho expenses. .... Xho financial ct&tenKinfc alioww r©ccipte £29 lfls, debit balance £267 16s Bd. The question of the lighting of the publio wading room was referred to the Lighticg ConmuMc©- _ _ . I The drainage of Charles and Beswick | strata was referred to the Worke Committee.
