SUMNER LADY LIVERPOOL FUND
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual, meeting of the Sumner Branch of the Lady Liverpool Fund was held in the parish room yesterday afternoon, tho Mayor, the Hon. J. Barr, M.L.C., presiding over a good attendance. The chairman introduced Mr; L. Hart, who detailed the scheme in counexiou with the Tramway Copper Trail, and stated that for six weeks a concert would be run eiyery night in the city, in th 6 interests of ono of the six districts competing-. Committees in each district would undertake the sale of tickets. Before Mj Hart left the meeting, tho Mdyor stated that he would call a public meeting for next week. Tho annual report showed that the Society had many friends and helpers, and urged all to redouble their efforts to meet the increasing expenditure and the increasing reeds. Tho balance-sheet showed receipt's £175 6s 4d, expenditure £161 lis 6d, and balance £13 163 lOd. Tbo report and balancesheet were adopted. The Mayor extended a hearty welcome to Mrs Holland, Mayoress of Chriatchurch, and to Mrs Been, • both of whom addressed th© gathering, and, in thanking the branch for itk good work, showed that the Fund was doing excellent work and was providing for the boys in tbe trenches comforts that wera keenly appreciated. The speakers were heartily applauded. Tho election of officers resulted as follows: —President, the Mayoress (Mrs J. UarrJ, vice-presidents, Mesdaines H. J. Marruicr and G. W. C. Smithson; hon. secretary, Miss Jl. A." Bain: assistant secretary, Mibs >• Barlow; hon. treasurer, Mr H. Buttle, eenr.; committee, Mesdames P. Black, H. Buttle, D. Bates, H. Barlow, Beckett, H*nham, Gregory-Hunt. T. W. Johnson, C H. Hamilton, Leithead, T. E Whitfield J., d ®,£• Galwey, J. M. B. Crawford, Mulcock, Sherrard, F. S. Maddison, and Miss Jamieson. During the afternoon musical items ww» contributed by Mesdames G March, Cother, H. "W. Healop, and Miss Johnson.
