Senator Russell, director of the wheat pool, denies that the pool sold 1,000,000 bushels to Now Zealand, 'but says that Australia can meet any shortage there. (Received July 10th, 10.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 10. ■ The Farmers' Conference resolved , that the guaranteed price should not "be less than 5s a bushel. Many farmers are selling out because they consider the Government's price is too low. J SHIPBUILDING CONTRACTS. SYDNEY, July 10. (Received July 10th, 10.40 p.m.) Two further contracts for eight steel vessels of -5500 tons are being placed, bringing the Commonwealth's fleet to 95 ships, aggregating 398,426 tons. TO SAFEGUARD SPORT. (Received July 10th, 10.40 p.m.) . SYDNEY, July 10. .A movement is on foot to establish a "Liberty League" to safeguard the interests of sport. The convenors hope that the League will serve to combat influences tending towards a reduction of manly sport and healthy recreation and marshal ta strong opposition to extreme legislation.
