PAHIATUA, July 10. The Pahiatua County Council unanimously endorsed a proposal that any surplus from the. sale'--of' last year's wool cliD should go to the dependants of the men of the Navjr and mercantile marine. Few, it was said, realised what the Navy had done, ana it was cpnsidered it was the least appreciation -that could be shown to the men who had kept up the prosperity of the country. The War Relief Association, solicite more funds for the wounded soldiers, and it was resolved that the matter be brought to the notice of absentee landlords, especially- the owners of the Balfour Estate, a big property near the town owned by the Rt. Hon. A. J. Balfour.
