Mr P. Miller, president of the Dunedin Jockey Club, and Mr A.S. Orbell, passed through Chri6tchurch last night on their way to Wellington to attend Hie annual meeting of the New Zealand Racing Conference.

A meeting of the Manawatu Racing Olub on Monday night decided to vote £4100 out of this year's profits to patriotic funds, making a total of £11,600 for similar purposes since the war began. Information has been received by Mr Patrick Conway, the well-known trainer of Green Lane, Auckland, that his son, Private Roland- V, Conway, who is attached to an Otago company of the New Zealand Forces, has been awarded the Military Medal. Private Conway was a pupil of Ellerslie school, and is a wellknown jockey. He enlisted early in the war, and is understood to be the first jockey from New Zealand to have won th-j Military Medal. Private Conway was also a well-known amateur boxer. (Bt "Seabcbiioht.") Training operations at Addington are still being conducted on the small track, which is in a very bad state. Trainers exercising their horses include C. James, T. G. Fox, A. Cox, J. McDermott, 3). Mahoney, E. Berry, and J. "Wright. Mr O. Channing's horses have not been doing any track work of late. Agathos, Frank Tracey, and Bank Note aro in good heart, while the Bogash gelding has almost recovered from the cold which ho recently contracted. Mr J. Smith has sold his well-known trotter Paul. Huon to the Addington trhiner, C. James, at a satisfactory 1 figure. . Advice has been received from the Sooth that the ex-Capterburv trainer, J McLennan, is now established in his new quarters at Evansdale. Wishful and Gladfnl jumped two of the schooling hnrdlee. White Blaze trotted round, and was afterwords galloped. Ho appears to be troubled with rheumatism. Otara jumped , the hurdles safely. Hyllus Sir Solo, Pureefiller, Polydamon, Colorado, Art, Diavolo, and eeveral others wero exercised.
