• An Saturday evening, Private F. G. - S. Chapman, who is on his final leave .from; Featherston, was admitted to the .'-Christchurch Holpital, suffering from a gunshot wound in the foot. Private Chapman, who belongs to Springston, .was out shooting at Little River, and, when.getting through a fence, his gun was discharged, the shot lodging in nis . foot. Private Chapman was operated on on Saturday afternoon, and is ie- , ported-to be pjogressing favourably. A . man named Frank Williams, who resides at 32 Stanmoro road, was ad- • oitted to the (hristchurch Hospital on Saturday, at 7.30 p.m., suffering from injuries to his body and ribs, caused by being run over by a cab. • Late on Friday afternoon Private Herbert Lloyd Dash, a bugler attached to the 40tl\ Reinforcements, met * a fatal accident at Trentham Camp'; He was mounted on one of the carap : horses, when it suddenly bolted. Private Dash endeavoured to dismount by throwing his foot over the horse's i fell on his head and was f instantaneously. The deceased \ soldier was a native of New Zealand, ®®B|lo, and 31 years of ace. His next is an runt, Mrs Paterson, Dorosd, Auckland, and there are ®Werßtood to bo other relatives in Australia.
