Sir H. W. Bishop, S.M., returned to Christchurch from the south by yesterday's express.
The Hon. T. Fleming, M.L.C., the Hon. J. McGregor, M.L.C., Dr. Robinson, and Staff-Captain Elder werq passengers from Wellington by yesterday's ferry steamer.
Mr J. Thomt®, of Domain terrace, Spreyaoli, has leceived advice that his son, Corporal S. A. Thomas, has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field. Corporal Thomas left with the 17th Reinforcements. At the time of enlisting he was in the employ of Messrs Macky, Logan, and Calwell, Wellington.
