. ♦— — ■ SOUTH WAIMAKARIKI EIVER BOARD. At tho last meeting of tho South Waimakariri River Board there wcro pieecmt— Messrs W. P. Spencer (chairman), H. E. Peryman, Jao Le«!ie, F. E? Jones, A. S. Bruoe, C. Burgesa, N. K. Bovrdon, and C. H. A. T. Opie. Tho overseer's report etated that there had been no floods in tho river, but it hod been slightly dirty.'' The Board agreed to loose Reserve 31,' Halkett, to Mr G. Fowler. Owing .to, the closing up of tho Harowood telograpli office it was dccided to join with three other parties in securing a party wire. BECKENHAM RESIDENTS' ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of tho Beakenham Residents' Association was held on Tuesday, Hi* McGallan presiding. It was decided, on tho motion of Mr Charleeon, to write to the Hcathcote County Council pointing out the urgent need for a street lamp midway botween Colombo street and- Malcolm avenue bridge. Tho secretary (iTr T. Q. Carlisle) reported that tho proceeds from Dr. Thacker's lecture were 255, less 12b 6d expenses, and it was decided to hand the balanoo, 12s Gd, "to the School Fund. IVY OF LD^WOOD; I/ODGE. . At the last meeting of tho Ivy of Linwood Lodge, . No, 13, U.A.0.D., A,D. Bro. Bates was in tho.chair. The various officers were installed. D.F. Bro. Thorn then presented J.P.A. Bro. Collins with a framed diploma on his having completed his term of office as Arch Druid. Sick pay amounting to £9 was passed for payment. A hearty welcome was then accorded the members of the Mis•tletoe Lodge, and a friendly game of cards was played, after which .light refreshments were handed round. THISTLE O# THE FOREST LODGE. Tho half-yearly meeting of Court Thistle of tho Forest, No. 6434, A.0.F., was held on Tuesday, C.B. Bro. T. Woods presiding. Tho election of officers resulted:—CJt. Bro. E. C. Paul; S.C.R., Bro. ii. Soddinott; S.W., Jiro. S. James; J.W., Bro. Cooper; 5.8., Bro. C. Oliver; J. 8., Bro. W. J. Turner; junior minute secretary, Bro. H. G. Ward; treasurer, Bro. F. Luce; medical officers, Dra. Diamond, Thomas, and Louisson; management committee, Bros. - Cooper, Hoddinott, W. D. Markß, Luce,' and Mapplebock; auditors, Bros. W. Turner and Cooper. Two candidates wore proposed. LOYAL ORANGE LODGE. At a meeting of Lodges' Nos. 1 and 3 (ladies), tho opportunity was taken to extend a welcome to the G.M. of New Zealand, Bro. A. Hay of Timaru, and his executive officers. The meeting took the form of a social evening, .there being a largo attendance of members of both male and female lodges. The'ceremony was prsided over by the presidents o,f the ladies' lodges, Sis. McJarrow and Sis. Hood. Bro. J. H. Morrow, Grand Senior Deacon of Grand Lodge, extended a warm welcome to the visitors. This Grand Master,' on rising to reply, was greeted with prolonged applause. He thanked one and all for their good wishes, and trusted, thatbefore long he would 'be able to visit this city again. During the evening, on behalf of the members of the institution, the G.M. presented Bro. Joseph H. Morrow, and Sis. Morrow with a well-filled purso of sovereigns each, as a token of appreciation of their services:
