SUPREME COUKT. IN CHAMBERS. (Before his Honour Mr Justice Sim.) On Monday, at Dunedin, probates of the wills of the following deceased persons were granted: Catherine McGrath (Mr 3>ougall), Coartenay Charles Wells (Mr Flesher), Charles Thomas Tiestall (Mr Johnston), Sarah Willock (Mr Wilding), John Gill (Mr Andrews), Frederick Gilchrist (Mr Helmore), Charles Matthew Gray (Mr Flesher), Thomas Giles (Mr Brown), George Henry Waddell (Mr Kennedy), Charle3 James Powick (Mr Strang). lietters of administration were granted in re William Burton Hobbs, deceased (Mr H. S. J. Goodman). In' re Thomas Mollett. deceased (Mr Pascoc), a motion to confirm the Registrar's report, was granted, and remuneration allowed accordingly. (Before the Registrar.) A motion for leave'to exercise power of sale under chattel security by Albert . Septhorp (Mr C. S. Thomas) against W. B. Tipping and another (Mr Sargent) was dismissed without costs. : MAGISTERIAL. (Before Messrs C. D. Morris and R. B. Walker, J.P.'s.) ASSAULT. Patrick Cunningham (Mr F. W. Johnston) pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting Henry Fox by striking him on the face. Thomas Cunningham, for whom Mr Johnston also appeared, pleaded guilty to obstructing Sergt. O'Grady whilst in the execution of his duty, and to wilfully damaging the policeman's overcoat. Patrick Cunningham was fined 40s, and his brother 20s, and ordered to pay the damage to the coat. The aocusm were ordered to pay the costs between them.
ALLEGED THEFT. Henry Bowser, charged with theft of a watch, was remanded till Friday. OBSCENE LANGUAGE. William Missen (Mr F. K. Hnnt), charged with using obeence langnggo at the railway station, pleaded guilty. A fine of 20s was imposed. INDUSTRIAL CASES. Saunders and Co., who did not appear, and, who were not represented by counsel, were fined £3 for failing to keep a time book. ■ • (Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) SLY-GROG SELLING. Percy Pascoe appeared on remand to answer three charges—one of selling liquor without a license, the second of allowing his premises to be used as a house of ill-fame, and the third of keeping a house of ill-fame. He was defended by Mr C. S. Thomas. After hearing the evidence, accused was convicted- and sentenced to ono month's imprisonment on the charge of sly-grog selling, and on tie charge of allowing his premises to be nsed as a brothel he was - sentenced ' to three months' imprisonment. The third charge was withdrawn.
