COUNTY COUNCILS.
HARWELL. At tiro last meeting of the Halswell County Council there were present—Messrs E. M. Morten (chairman)), Eaglesome, Paterson, Macartney, Mulcock, and Stuart. It was resolved that an agreement for » supply of ehinglo be made with Mr Kempstcmo, Hoon Hay road, for a term of three years. The clerk reported that Henderson's road had been shingled for a length of 25 chainsMessrs Paterson and Mulcock and the County Engineer were appointed a sub-ccm-mittee, with power to act, to make arrangements for a strfrply of electricity to Halswell and the surrounding farms. The Public Works Department forwarded a circular stating that applications for tho closing of roads should be Erst Bent to the Distict Engineer. It was reported that arrangements for widening Hoon Hay iroad at its junction with Lincoln r°ad had been completed.
