Hughes's rcfererces~to protect'on, which have CQ t the fiscnl partisans by the ears. The Imperinlist journals devote long leaders to extollinsr i'r Hughes, while the other sections of the Press call him "a nuisance and a- windbag." and declare that his arguments in favour of the adoption of protection are silly.
