MINERS' DEMANDS.
OWNERS EXPECTED TO MAKE CONCESSIONS. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAM.) DUNEDIN, July 1. Representatives pf the New Zealand Coal Mine Owners' Association will hold a conference at Wellington on Wednesday to discuss the demands of the Federated Minors for an increase of 20 per cent, in rates apd wages. The executive of the Association recently conferred with the Minister of Mines (Hon. W- D. 6. Mac Donald). That conference was private, but it is understood that as a result of the discussion, the owners are expected to make concessions to the Federation. The question of passing the extra cost on to tho public may yet, however, be a matter for Government consideration.'
