Mr R. G. Robinson, Superintendent of State Forestry operations for the South Island, is resigning from the Department after 19 years' service in the forestry branch. His decision was influenced by the higher remuneration offered both in Australia and Canterbury, for considerably smaller responsibilities. Mr Robinson has decided to accept the appointment of superintendent of the Selwyn Reserves, Canterbury.

The local staff of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd., met on Saturday- morning to bid farewell to Mr Adam E. Smith, who has occupied the position of head auctioneer to the firm for the past 14 years, arid who has relinquished his position in order to take up fanning pursuits in North Canterbury. Mr J. R. Brown, manager, presented Mr Smith with a solid silver entree dish. Mr Smith suitably responded to the good wishes expressed by aIL present for his future welfare.

Mrs H. Simpson, of 14 Abberloy road, St. AJbans, has received advice from the Minister of Defence that her son, Private Charles Edwnrd Simpson, has been awarded the M'T'tary Medal for gallantry on the field. Private Simpson was one of the first to enlist in August, IPI4, in the 12th Nelson Company.
