MR J. McCOMBS, M.P.
ORDER FOR SUBSTITUTED I SERVICE. In Chambers, yesterday afternoon, before his Honour Mr Justice Stringer, Mr A. F. Wright, acting for tho petitioning creditors (Kincaid's, Ltd., and Messrs Bowron 8r03.), renewed his application, made on the 12th inst. before M r Justice Herdman, for leave to make substituted service on Mr James McCombs, M.P. "for Lyttelton, in respect of a petition in hapkruptcy. On the previous occasion, tho application was adjourned for ton days in order that further attempts might be made to effect personal service. His Honour Mr Justice Stringer, after hearing counsel on tho matter yesterday, made an order for substituted service by the delivery of the petition at Mr McCombs's house, and also by sending a ccpy of the summons and petition by registered letter addressed: "Jameft McCombs, M.P., G.P.0., Wellington.'' His Honour fixed the hearing of the petition, for 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday next in the Court at Christchurch. Mr "McCombs was ordered to pay £5 os, the costs of the present application, and also to pay disbursements. An unfounded statement that personal service had been effected on Mr McCombs was in circulation in the city yesterday, and is understood to have arisen from the fact that according to the Auckland nowspapers Mr McCombs is to address public meetings in that city next Sunday and the following Thuralay.
