FOOTBALL.
' CANTERBURY RUGBY LEAGUE. In the report to he.submitted, to the sixth annual meeting of the Canterbury Rugby Football League, the Management Committee regret the loss of some prominent members during the year, several having been killed in action, and extend to the relatives of those wounded and killed the sympathy of members. Those who have given their Hives for the freedom of the nation are: Messrs W. Buesell, B. Bussell, F. Flet<*ir, P. Henry, F. Kiddey, E. Manhire, A. IN anker ville, E, Sole, A. Stokes, E. Xozer, and R. White. Honours for distinguished eervioe at the front were gained by Messrs T. Kirton and A. Lcshke. During the past year the playing fields were occupied by a large number of young players and members unfit for active service, and the various competitions produced keen football tho leading teams in the senior shield matches ehowing improvement during the seriw. Sydenham (the senior grade), Addington (Junior Flag), Hornby (third grade cup), and Addington (fourth-class banner) were the successful clubs; the Sydenham second grade team also won a competition for a "knock out" round. The balance-sheet showß a sum of £G to credit.
