RACING AND TROTTING NOTES. (BY "Lookeh-ON.") The second issue of the Pocket Edition of the "New Zealand Turf Register" for the current season is now on sale. This volume includes reports of all totalisator race meetings from December Bth to March 9th, and of trotting meetings from December 17th to March 7th,. with index complete from August Ist. "With the Easter Meetings so close at hand it should command a ready sale among those who arc anxious to study form. All fast work at Riccarton yesterday morning was done on the inside of tho trial grass, wheh was on the slo\y side. Sweet Corn, who was the first out, was not fully extended while running five furlongs in lmin 7 2-sth sec. Almo covered seven furlongs in lmin 35sec, and could not hare done much better. Lovesick, Afterglow, and Eleus were to have been companions in a sprint over five furlongs, but Eleus swerved off tho track and was left. Tho other two finished together in lmin ssec, with Afterglow going better than her stablemate. Lovesick was not wearing shoes. Heathcote was too good for Long Range over six furlongs, run in lmin 20sec. Kimboltou finished with Battle Eve over tho same courso in lmn 19 3-oth sec. G. Jones's two-year-old colt by Demosthenes sprinted four furlongs in 51sec. Biplane raced over six furlongs in lmin 16 3-sth sec. He was all out, but it was a great gallop. Wrestler, who followed in his wake, took lmin 18sec. Lionskin was too good for Sir Fanciful over four furlongs up the back, which she ran in 51 2-oth sec. Thames and Missouri were not asked for their best, in a bout over five furlongs, run in lmin 7 4-sth sec. Adjutant, who was assisted by Gamecock over tho last five, ran seven furlongs in lmin 32 ,3-sth sec. Ladoguer and Hyttus, who arrived on Wednesday, were out doing steady pacing. Both look well. Margerine, who was picked up by a stable-mate at the six furlong peg, galloped a mile in lmin 45 3-sth sec. Euripos was too good for Comely at any part of a spin over six furlongs, which he ran in lmin 18 2-sth see. Bore, assisted by Majestikoff over the last six, ran seven furlongs in lmin 35sec. Disdainful, with a light weight up, took lmin 32sec to gallop seven furlongs. She appeared to be stopping at tho finish. Scornful galloped five furlongs in lmin 5 1-oth sec, and Gavlad six in lmin 21 2-sth sec.

Carol Singer was no good to Jingo over five furlongs, run in lmin 5 3-oth sec. Achillodes beat ltosevear over six furlongs in lmin 20 4-sth sec. General Petain finished ahead of Thestius in a york-out over six furlongs, run in lmin 21sec, while Ascalaphus found little difficulty in running the same distance in lmin 19sec. Daytime was too good for Tremena over live furlongs in lmin 5 2-sth see. Killjoy did npt please by the manner in which she ran six furlongs in lmin 21 4-sth sec. King Star was easily too good for All Pink over six furlongs, which ho ran in lmin 21 4-oth sec.. Glendower did not appear to gallop sd well as usual when he ran ten furlongs in 2min 17\sec. The last four furlongs took Sosec. Fiery Cross was not worked. Love Token was much too good for Starlike over five furlongs run in lmin 6 4-oth sec. Tile bay gelding by Sir Dove—Prudish, who was turned loose in the jumping ring, promises to become a proficient jumper with very little schooling. Hylans (W. Bush) and Jeannot (L. Hagerty) raced over the two hurdles down the back. Both jumped well. Hylans then went on by himself over two more, and got over the four i.t the brilliant time of lmin 12 1-oth sec. Parisian Diamond, who has, including a dead-heat, won three races since the handicaps appeared for the Great Easter Handicap, has incurred a penalty of 101b for that race, which brings his weight up to Bst 21b. The stakes won by the Charlemagne 11. gelding during the last fortnight amount to £362 10s. Final payments for tl;e Auckland Racing Club's Easter Handicap, Great Northern Champagne Stakes, Oaks, and St. Leger Stakes are due this evening, together with acceptances for tho minor events on the first day of the Auckland Club's Autumn Meeting

Ariadne is doing plenty of road -work, and will contest the Farewell Handicap at Addingtou next week, when E. Redmond will be in the saddle. The aged pacing stallion, Dillon Bell, has been sold to an Australian sportsman, who intends putting the son of Harold Dillon to the stud in Sydney. Dainty Djllon is a recent addition to Oakhampton Lodge. • After doing a light season at the stud in Southland, Cello Sydney Wilkes has been placed in R. Dunn's hands to Le prepared for future engagements. The son of Harold Dillon arrived from the South a few days ago. and is in capital fettle to start work on.
