A hineheon «iven by tho Millions Club, with the object of stimulating investments in the war loan, resulted in the busiuess men present contributing £-100,000, and the A.M.P. Society £2,000,000. Mr W. A. Watt instanced New Zealand's favourable contributions to tho war loans, as compared with Australia. Since tho war started, and until the present loan closed. Australia would have snout £283,000,0C0 of loan money on naval and military operations. Australia had already rijised from all sources £105.000,000, leaving a shortage of £128.000,000. Tho Government must have £40,000,000, if not voluntarily then they would liavo to get it by somo other way.
